About Us

Our journey starts way back in 2011 when my wife and I opened Wacky Wags which is a dog daycare and boarding facility with a small retail store in the little town of Chico CA. It’s been 15 years now and Wacky Wags is still going strong.

In our humble retail store, we sell licking mats to our customers, and they love them. We decided to make a licking mat treat add-on to our daycare dogs as a special treat during their lunch break and of course it became a big hit.

We had a couple of issues to take care of and the first was how to elevate the mat in the dog crate to prevent it from scooting all over the crate floor during their lunch break. Usually, the mat ended up at the back of the crate with the dog laying on them. We became tired of crawling into the crate to fetch the mat and having to wash a dog because of leftover treat residue stuck to their fur. I knew there had to be a better way.

After many nights thinking of what we needed my light bulb finally went off and I knew we needed a holder of some sort that can be attached to a crate and to hold the licking mats up off the floor. We needed the holder to attach in a location that makes it easy to retrieve the mat.

After countless hours searching the interwebs I could not find anything that would work. I had to come up with my own design and after many prototypes LickiDocks was finally born.

I use LickiDocks in my crate system at Wacky Wags and it is the best, we can adjust the height for dogs of different sizes, and we attach it to the door of the crate making mat retrieval a breeze and yes, no more washing dogs! We also noticed that the urge to chew
the mats went away because they are surrounded by metal.

This was my little secret, but I started thinking and realized I was probably not the only one experiencing this problem, I'm sure my customers were having the same issues at home, but the mats probably ended up under their couches or beds. Ding ding again and I started producing them for our customers but like most folks we don't keep our furry family members in crates all the time at home but they wanted to be able to give their pet a licking mat treat and keep it in the same place at all times outside of a crate, yep you guessed it, that's when LickiDock Stations were born.
